While the JCC pre-schools have been a longtime resource and haven for parents of children ages 2, 3 and 4, the Parenting Center offers programming and networking to parents of “pre-preschoolers and post-preschoolers.”  The Parenting Center includes the J’s popular “Shalom Baby!” a program for new Jewish parents, and the newer  “Shalom Belly!” for expectant parents, but encompasses an even broader age range. If you’re a parent, this center is for you. Parenting Center programs deal with an array of topics led by experts in the fields of parenting and education. Topics include the emotional development of our children, discipline and behavior, incorporating Judaism into your home, the important role grandparents play in their grandchildren’s lives, and much more. The Parenting Center also sponsors informal “Bagels & Babies” playgroups, family Shabbatons and holiday celebrations. At the J, we’ve created an environment where parents can come together and discuss all these issues in a supportive setting. We want the J to be the place where parents can learn, commiserate, connect with other parents, develop bonds, and become part of a community.
